Volunteer at a Shoebox Processing Center!

Volunteer at
a Processing Center

Before the millions of shoebox gifts collected each year can bring hope and joy to children around the world, each one has to be carefully inspected and made ready for international shipment by volunteers like you. Tens of thousands of volunteers serve annually at shoebox processing centers across the United States after National Collection Week (the third week of November) and into December. Whether you’re interested in serving as an individual or with a group of any size, sign up now to have a direct part in blessing children overseas with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register to volunteer?

Visit occvolunteersignup.com to create or login to your account and sign up for a time to serve. If all time slots are full, join the waiting list and continue checking back for openings. If you have an account and are on the waiting list, you should receive a notification when a time slot is made available.

How old do you have to be to volunteer at a processing center?

For safety purposes, all volunteers must be 13 years of age or older. Additionally, one chaperone is required for every four youth (ages 13-17). For the safety of all volunteers in the warehouse, processing center staff reserve the right to ask any group not acting in accordance with safety procedures and outlined policies to leave the building at any time.

Can I update my reservation?

Yes, if your group size decreases or increases, it is critical to the operation of the processing center that you notify us so these slots may be made available to volunteers on our waiting list. Visit occvolunteersignup.com to make adjustments to your reservation.

What can I expect when I come to volunteer?

Every volunteer in the processing center plays an important role in ensuring the integrity and successful delivery of the shoebox gifts. Volunteers form teams responsible for inspecting gifts, working with filler items, scanning labels, organizing shoeboxes by age and gender into designated cartons, and heavy lifting. Due to the fast-paced environment of the warehouse and changing needs, you may be asked to do different tasks during your shift. We appreciate your flexibility in advance!
