Samaritan’s Purse Sends Desperately Needed Aid to Hurricane-Ravaged Honduras

BOONE, N.C., Nov. 11, 2020—Samaritan’s Purse is airlifting critical aid to Honduras after Hurricane Eta created widespread devastation in Central America. The slow-moving Category 4 storm triggered catastrophic flooding and landslides—leaving hundreds of thousands of families without access to clean water, shelter, or crucial medical care.

Today, the international Christian relief organization is deploying an Emergency Field Hospital and supplementary relief supplies on its DC-8 aircraft to aid affected families in Honduras. With area hospitals destroyed by the storm, Samaritan’s Purse medical staff will provide critical care to families, with the capacity to treat some 100 patients per day.

“In this year filled with hardship and uncertainties, Honduran families are once again facing incredible devastation,” said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse. “Please pray for these suffering communities as our teams provide immediate aid and point families to the hope found in Jesus Christ.”

Samaritan’s Purse is also working alongside local church partners to distribute emergency shelter material and hygiene kits to impacted families. Disaster response specialists will install water treatment systems in vulnerable communities to provide families with clean water after local infrastructure was damaged by the hurricane.
