Hurricane Idalia Response Press Kit
Samaritan’s Purse is responding in Florida after Hurricane Idalia left behind a path of destruction for families in the Sunshine State. As news of the approaching storm surfaced, the international Christian relief organization pre-positioned two Disaster Relief Units—tractor-trailers packed with relief equipment—on the outskirts of the storm's path to ensure a swift entry into impacted communities, as soon as it was safe to do so. The N.C.-based organization has mobilized volunteers throughout Pasco County and Taylor County, Florida—serving the hard-hit communities of Perry, Keaton Beach, Hudson, New Port Richey, and Elfers. Volunteers are helping impacted families by mudding out flooded homes, tarping damaged roofs, and clearing debris.
